The 2019 edition of UNAM Internacional Cinema Festival (FICUNAM) took place during the first week of March, and once more Portugal was a present partner at the event.
With the support of Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua the producer Luís Urbano de Sousa, from the company O Som e a Fúria, travelled to Mexico City to present the movie Technoboss, from director João Nicolau, elected to be part of the most recent festival selection - Catapulta - a platform to support the creation of author cinema projects from all around the world. The Portuguese movie went on to win 3 of the competition prizes: Jury Special Award (for artistic merit), Vitrine Filmes Award and Compañía Argentina de Trailers Award.
Portuguese cinema was also present at the festival in the Atlas section with the movie Chuva é Cantoria na Aldeia dos Mortos, from João Salaviza and Renée Nader Messora (2018) and in Aciertos-International Encounter of Film Schools with Onde o verão vai (episódios da juventude), from David Pinheiro Vicente (2018).
Equally of note is the participation of Rodrigo Francisco (Cine Clube de Viseu), on the roundtable Viseu Cine Club, Portugal: Unique ideas to share, part of the seminar El Público del Futuro.
